Observation and Communication

For this project, we were directed to select a building located in Sheffield to study over 10 weeks, I chose an unused building, on Shoreham Street.

The detailed walls and smashed windows added interest to the overall image. I enjoyed experimenting new methods of recording, different medias, and on different canvases.

I became fond of pointillism and decided to follow this style of painting after I studied Katat0nik's piece Bird's Eye View. I decided to continue the theme of using minimal colours, as shown in the two pieces below.

Beneath is the poster I produced by hand. It contains several styles such as pointillism which makes up the centre piece. The four seperate images in the corners are enlargemnts of the image but shown in a different technique. It was crucial that the poster contained a few details of the building, i.e. the address. The typography is made up of individual styles.

I am pleased with this outcome and have enjoyed this module the most, as I have developed my skills further.
